چکیده

The advantages of diversion of the urinary stream by cutaneous ureterostomy in certain selected cases are well established.1 Unfortunately the predisposition toward stricture at the cutaneous anastomosis has necessitated indwelling catheters in most cases.2 A number of ingenious surgical techniques have been devised35 to prevent this complication, some of which are very successful. The attendant problems of infection, hemorrhage, or calculus formation due to an inlying catheter are thus overcome. However, despite the excellent surgical techniques of tubeflap6 and "loop" ureterostomies,7 long-term maintenance of an adequate stoma usually requires frequent dilatation or eventual resumption of an indwelling catheter for satisfactory urinary drainage. 8

Vesicourethral anastomotic strictures after radical retropubic prostatectomy: the experience of a single institution.

OBJECTIVE Stricture of the vesicourethral anastomosis remains a well-documented complication after radical retropubic prostatectomy. MATERIALS AND METHODS We performed a retrospective study of 294 patients with prostate cancer who underwent radical retropubic prostatectomy. Possible correlations between anastomotic stricture formation, tumor stage, positive surgical margins, number of anastom...

Hybrid therapy with locoregional steroid injection and polyglycolic acid sheets to prevent stricture after esophageal endoscopic submucosal dissection

BACKGROUND AND STUDY AIM The incidence of stricture formation caused by endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for widespread lesions is high, and stricture formation can reduce quality of life. We evaluated the prophylactic efficacy of hybrid therapy using a locoregional steroid injection and polyglycolic acid (PGA) sheets with fibrin glue to prevent stricture formation after esophageal ESD in...

A simple technique of oblique anastomosis can prevent stricture formation in primary repair of esophageal atresia.

BACKGROUND Anastomotic stricture is an important problem after esophageal atresia (EA) repair. This study evaluates a technique of oblique esophageal anastomosis without use of a flap in order to prevent stricture formation. METHODS Medical records of 16 patients (14 with EA type III and 2 with EA type IV Ladd-Gross classification) who underwent primary repair of EA at birth without anastomot...

Delayed Primary End-to-end Anastomosis for Traumatic Long Segment Urethral Stricture and its Short-term Outcomes

Background: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the aetiology of posterior urethral stricture in children and analysis of results after delayed primary repair with extensive distal urethral mobilisation. Materials and Methods This was a retrospective study carried out in a tertiary care centre from January 2009 to December 2013. Results: Eight children with median age 7.5 years (range ...

FREE JEJUNAL GRAFT FOR TREATMENT OF ESOPHAGEAL STRICTURE DUE TO FAMILIAL EPIDERMOLYSIS BULLOSA

In this paper, two patients with severe dysphagia and esophageal stricture secondary to epidermolysis bullosa are presented and discussed. They are siblings of an affected family. Primary resection and anastomosis had been performed previously in both patients, but dysphagia had recurred. We treated these patients with free jejunal graft to the esophagus with excellent results. Both patient...
